Daytime tours
During the day, tours are led by trained guides along a winding path through the bush and past fields where crops are grown. After gaining permission, guests enter a living village where they meet the resident Shangana family and learn aspects of history, customs and traditions.  Guests are encouraged to interact and really experience the way of life. The tour then proceeds to the mystical kraal of the sangoma (traditional healer) to learn about traditional medicines, before returning to the Marula Market.
Daytime tours: On the hour, from 09h00 last tour at 16h00
Guided visit through fields to village and Sangoma. (min 1 hour). Minimum 1, max 150 pax.

Each guest receives a traditional African Djembe drum, our qualified drummer will guide groups to play together and within minutes an hour of exhilarating, stress relieving energetic and very enjoyable group drumming session guarantee to get every individual to work as a team.

NB: The lunch menu does not include the starters, unless requested at an additional price.
Over lunchtime, tours can be arranged which follow the same format as the daytime tours, but a full traditional meal is served in the Chief's Kraal.
After visiting the mystical kraal and the sangoma (traditional healer), guests are taken to the main kraal where a full traditional lunch is served, which has been especially prepared by Chief Israel Ngobeni's family for his visitors.

The wives of the Chief wash the hands of the guests, and then the pots of food are brought from the fire and served.
For larger groups, the families from surrounding villages perform their famed Shangana muchongolo dance/ choir or marimba band can be arranged

Please note that the Shangana Cultural Village is working towards introducing a Midday Show (i.e same as the evening festival but the fire will not be there of course).

Midday Festival: 12:00 to 15:00 (set arrival time)

Evening festival
This magnificent show with a cast of some choir members, actors and dancers tells the story of the Shangana nation. As the sun sets over the mountains the beating of drums grows louder as warriors guide guests into the great Kraal of Chief Soshangana, a circle of royal huts lit by flames. The show is mesmerizing – colorful, varied, moving and entertaining.
At the interval, the chief’s wives serve a traditional feast - Shangana dishes so good they have features in restaurant guides! A full bar is available and we will arrange special requests with pleasure
Our famous marimba band will entertain you during the interval with pulsing rhythmic sounds while you enjoy our traditional Shangana meal.

Evening festival: 17:00 to 20:00 set arrival time

Children from the age of 4 years - 12 years half price on all tours, including evening festivals.
